HP has revealed it is to cut an additional 5,000 jobs worldwide as it continues to try and streamline its business in the face of ongoing financial upheavals.
HP revealed plans in May 2012 to cut 29,000 jobs but in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Committee (SEC) this week, the firm admitted this number is likely to rise due to the need to make further cost savings.
“Due to continued market and business pressures, as of October 31, 2013, HP expects to eliminate an additional 15 percent of those 29,000 positions, or a total of approximately 34,000 positions,” it said.
