Samsung Galaxy Tab3 Lite Android 4 2 tablet price revealed

Samsung recently launched the much-awaited Galaxy Tab3 Lite tablet; however the company has not revealed the pricing of the tablet. Now, the launch price of the tablet has been revealed thanks to an online listing in Russia.

Hi-Tech Mail spotted the new Galaxy Tab3 Lites listing first at Svyaznoy, which is Russias second largest independent handset retailer. According to the site, the 8GB Wi-Fi-only model of the Galaxy Tab3 Lite tablet is listed at 6,490 Russian roubles which translates to roughly Rs. 11,900, while the 8GB 3G model is listed at 9,990 Russian roubles (roughly Rs. 18,200). Unfortunately, there is no word on the pricing and availability of the Galaxy Tab3 Lite tablet for the Indian market.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab3 Lite tablet runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box with Samsung TouchWiz UI on top. It features a 7-inch WSVGA (1024x600 pixels) display.

Notably, the Galaxy Tab3 Lite tablet comes in two variants, Wi-Fi and 3G; however there is no word on voice-calling support via the SIM. The tablet is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor (unspecified chipset) alongside 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB inbuilt storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB with the help of microSD card.

The Galaxy Tab3 Lite sports a 2-megapixel rear camera, while there is no front-facing camera. The rear camera also comes with features like Smile Shot, which automatically shoots when smile is detected; Shoot and Share that allows users to share images, and Panorama Shot that offers wide-angle view of a landscape.

Connectivity options on the tablet include Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth, Micro-USB, GPS/ AGPS, GLONASS and 3G (SIM support). The Galaxy Tab3 Lite packs a 3600mAh battery which the company claims can deliver up to eight hours of video playback. Some of the preloaded apps on the tablet include Chrome, Gmail, Google+, Maps, Play Books, Play Movies, Play Music, Play Store, Hangouts, YouTube, Samsung Apps, Samsung Hub, ChatON, Dropbox, Polaris Office, and Flipboard. The Samsung Galaxy Tab3 Lite comes with 193.4x116.4x9.7mm dimensions and weighs 310 grams.

Samsung Galaxy S5 due by April maybe with iris scanner

The Korean companys next-generation flagship Android phone will be more distinctive than predecessors. Also coming: a smaller, more powerful Gear successor.

  Samsungs Galaxy S5 will be stylistically distinct from S3 and S4 predecessors, and the next-generation flagship Android phone could include an iris scanner when it ships in March or April, according to the companys mobile-products leader.

"Many people are fanatical about iris recognition technology... We are studying the possibility," said Young-hee Lee, executive vice president of marketing for Samsung mobiles division, in a Bloomberg News interview at the CES conference in Las Vegas published Thursday.

Iris scanners can identify a person based on patterns in the eye, and adding one would be a competitive response to the fingerprint scanner in Apples iPhone 5S and HTC One Max. For the iris scanner to be more than a gimmick, though, it would have to work effectively to avoid criticisms such as those leveled at the HTC One Maxs fingerprint authentication mechanism.

Samsung had planned to include a fingerprint scanner in the Galaxy Note 3, a phablet released in September, but backed off the idea because it wasnt reliable enough, sources have told CNET.

The S5 should look different, too: "When we moved to S4 from S3, its partly true that consumers couldnt really feel much difference between the two products from the physical perspective, so the market reaction wasnt as big," Lee told Bloomberg. "For the S5, we will go back to the basics. Mostly, its about the display and the feel of the cover." 

The S5 will be released a year after the S4, in March or April, Lee said. At the same time, a successor to the Gear smartwatch will arrive thatll be less bulky and have more advanced features, according to Lee. Sources have told CNET that the Gear successor is due in March, including a higher-quality screen.
Lee also said a new Galaxy Note smartphone for higher-end customers will arrive in the second half of 2014.
